CSA for SNAP

Now Available at Market

This summer, we have been working with the Lower East Side Girls Club’s Center for Wellness and Happiness, located at Avenue D and East 7th Street, on a unique New York State “CSA for SNAP” project.

Funded through the nonprofit Fulton Stall Market in Lower Manhattan, the project helps provide low-income communities with convenient access to fresh, organic vegetables from Norwich Meadows Farm.

Through the program, SNAP participants living near the Center can receive weekly boxes of our fresh vegetables from summer through fall for half price.

The vegetables in each box change with our harvest and reflect the tastes and preferences shared by neighborhood residents during pre-season meetings. At the weekly Friday pickup, participants can also taste vegetables prepared by chefs and receive cooking tips, recipes, and nutrition information.

We are now expanding CSA for SNAP to serve more participants through our New York City farmers market stands:

  • Union Square Greenmarket: Monday, Friday and Saturday
  • Tompkins Square Greenmarket: Sunday

Both SNAP and non-SNAP participants may sign up at these locations for a trial week and then continue for a minimum of four weeks.

  • SNAP participants: $10 per week using SNAP EBT
  • Non-SNAP participants: $20 per week

Depending on produce availability, you may be able to pick up your first box immediately or on the next market day. We will collect your contact information when you sign up so we can keep you informed about future pickups.
