Cesare's Canestrino di Lucca Tomatoes

Sale price$75.00

A Deeply Ribbed Tuscan Heirloom Tomato

1 × 5 lb Box · Harvested to Order • Ships Nationwide

We first tasted these tomatoes when our friend Rick Bishop gave us some at Union Square Greenmarket. Canestrino di Lucca is a traditional Tuscan variety — deeply ribbed, irregular, and meaty, with balanced acidity.

Fresh tomatoes for eating and cooking. We do not sell seeds or plants.

What's in the Box

Approximately 5 pounds of organic Cesare's Canestrino di Lucca tomatoes, harvested ripe from our fields.

Expect natural variation in size, shape, color, and ripeness. Small cracks and cosmetic marks are normal for heirlooms and don't affect flavor.

What Do They Taste Like?

Savory, with dense flesh, mild sweetness, and balanced acidity. Good raw and sturdy enough for cooking.

How to Use Them

  • Slice with olive oil, flaky salt, and basil
  • Panzanella
  • Toast, sandwiches, or bruschetta
  • Pair with mozzarella, burrata, ricotta, or aged cheeses
  • Roast
  • Fresh sauce, gazpacho, or vinaigrette
  • Stuff and bake whole

Storage

Room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Don't refrigerate until ripe. Eat the softest tomatoes first; let firmer ones finish ripening on the counter.
