Harvested fully ripe from our certified organic farm, Ground Cherries (also known as Husk Cherries) are picked at peak flavor and shipped with their natural papery husks intact. Their remarkable flavor combines notes of pineapple, mango, vanilla, and citrus, making them one of the most distinctive fruits of late summer.

What Are Ground Cherries?

Despite their name, Husk or Ground Cherries aren't cherries at all—they're members of the tomato family. Each golden fruit ripens inside a delicate papery husk that naturally protects it while concentrating its sweetness.

How to Enjoy Them

Peel away the husk and enjoy them fresh, add them to fruit salads, bake them into pies and crisps, cook them into jams or chutneys, or pair them with yogurt, cheeses, and ice cream. They also make outstanding salsas and cocktail garnishes.

Storage Tips

Store Husk Cherries in their husks at room temperature for several days, or refrigerate for longer storage. For long-term storage, remove the husks and freeze the fruit whole.
